Eastview Baptist Church has been serving the Georgetown community since 1933. What began as a small gathering of believers has, by God’s grace, continued for more than nine decades as a place where the Gospel is preached, the Bible is taught, and lives are transformed through faith in Jesus Christ.
The church’s beginnings can be traced to December 3, 1932, when Mr. and Mrs. O.M. and M.B. Baker donated the original church property for the sum of $1.00. Trustees Creed Harris and W.C. Lyle were appointed to oversee the legal organization of the new church, and a one-room church building was constructed through the hard work and dedication of men from the local community, including Creed Harris.
On February 25, 1933, members received letters from Gum Springs Baptist Church, and Eastview Baptist Church was officially organized. Later that year, Mr. and Mrs. Baker also sold additional property to the church for $10 for use as a cemetery, helping establish a lasting foundation for the congregation’s ministry.
Throughout the years, Eastview Baptist Church has experienced many changes and improvements. A steeple, bell, and Sunday School rooms were added in 1961. Additional classrooms, a new entrance, and restrooms followed in the 1970s. The 1980s brought further renovations, including carpeting, updated seating, exterior improvements, and an expanded porch. In 1995, the fellowship hall was completed, providing additional space for ministry and fellowship.
Other improvements over the years reflect both growth and progress: kerosene lamps gave way to electricity, pot-bellied stoves were replaced by modern heating systems, the sanctuary was improved, and the parking area was expanded and paved. Yet the true story of Eastview Baptist Church is not found in buildings alone.
For more than 90 years, Eastview Baptist Church has remained committed to the timeless truths of God’s Word. While the facilities have changed, the church’s mission has remained the same: to faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the Bible, encourage believers, and serve the surrounding community for the glory of God.
As we look to the future, we thank the Lord for His faithfulness through every generation and pray that Eastview Baptist Church will continue to be a beacon of biblical truth and Christian witness for many years to come.
